Resources for parents during the COVID-19 pandemic

by Ponichtera & DeNardis, P.C. on 04/08/20

This is a very difficult time for parents trying to raise and share time with their children, when our governmental leaders are telling us all to social distance.  Massachusetts Probate Court Chief Justice John Casey has advised that all parenting orders remain in place and must be followed during this unprecedented time.  In particular he has directed that "parenting orders are not stayed during this period of time. In fact, it is important that children spend time with both of their parents and that each parent have the opportunity to engage in family activities, where provided for by court order. In cases where a parent must self-quarantine or is otherwise restricted from having contact with others, both parents should cooperate to allow for parenting time by video conference or telephone."
The Association of Family and Conciliation Courts has published resources to guide parents during the COVID-19 pandemic.  As a service to you we have included a link to these resources for parents to utilize as a guide during this stressful time.  https://www.afccnet.org/Coronavirus#collapsednn_ctr873.

Please stay safe and well.  If you need the advice of an experienced family law attorney to help and advise you during this time, please do not hesitate to contact Attorney Ann Ponichtera DeNardis.
